Who are we?

Ms. Pamela Gersbach. M.S.W. started Kids and Families Matter after discovering that families who were involved with the Family and Dependency Court Systems in Manatee and Sarasota County were in need of experienced, professional, and respectful support.

As the Director of Kids and Families Matter, Ms. Gersbach has over 30 years of experience working with families in crisis and transition. 
As a Forensic Social Worker for over 20 years, and as the First and Lead Social Worker in the first Child Protection Services Domestic Violence Unit in Santa Clara County, CA. Ms. Gersbach has helped many families through very difficult times.

Ms. Gersbach holds a graduate degree in Social Work from San Jose State University College of Social Work, with an emphasis on Child Welfare and Cultural Diversity.  Ms. Gersbach graduated with Honors and with recognition from her Internship from the Department of Family and Children's Services.

Ms. Gersbach additionally holds a Bachelors of Arts from San Jose State University with a major in Psychology and a minor in Religious Studies.

Ms. Gersbach has been awarded with the Social Worker of the Year distinction from Court Appointed Child Advocates.

Ms. Gersbach's continued studies have had an emphasis in  forensic social work, child welfare, cultural diversity,  addiction, transition, 
risk management, loss and grief, mediation, and family assessment and reunification.

Ms. Gersbach has worked extensively with Military Families who are located both stateside, overseas, and in theater, and understands the difficulty and challenges that Military life has on the entire family serving.
 
Ms. Gersbach is professional, friendly and has excellent intervention skills.  She is adamant in making sure families, including children, are treated in a respectful and caring manner which makes the task of providing safe and secure services with clear rules and expectations easy. 
 
Ms. Gersbach has extensive experience helping families who are experiencing a variety of court proceedings, separations, grief and loss, life difficulties, and life changes.

Ms. Gersbach previously held the distinction of a Florida Supreme Court Certified Family Court and Dependency Court Mediator.

Ms. Gersbach is a current Board Member, and member, of the Manatee County Circuit 12 Family Court Professional Collaborative, Inc.
